FYI: We are going to downgrade our Ventrilo Server in order to have room for more than 8 people at a time. You can download the old client here.

That explains it. Crawdad, Pod, and Masquerade are all on the older server.

Why can't you get the new one to use more than 8? I connect to 2 different servers daily that do. Does anyone know how to run 2 different versions of vent then? I tried before and it would only let me have one.

The new one is locked at 8 unless you purchase the license. To purchase the license you have to be a legal registered webhosting corporation. I am sure that there are ways to hack/crack it in order to get around that, but I am not going to do so. I will check on running 2 different versions.

Installing Two Versions:
1) Install old ventrilo (2.1.4) 2) Copy the files from the install directory (C:\\Program Files\\Ventrilo = default) and paste them into a temporary directory. 3) Run the ventrilo uninstaller from the Add/Remove menu 4) Copy the ventrilo files to the directory you want them in (ie C:\\Program Files\\Ventrilo 2.1.4) 5) Run the ventrilo 2.2.0 installer 6) Make a shortcut to ventrilo 2.1.4 and put it wherever you want. (I would put it in the start menu and name it Ventrilo 2.1.4) If you ever need to remove it, you can use the uninstaller from Add/Remove to delete the 2.2.0. And to get rid of the 2.1.4 just simply delete the files. |
